A stunning example of Victorian snake jewellery.
This mid 19th century snake locket comprises of a central domed coral heart with applied floral decoration in silver set with rose cut diamonds.
Surrounding the coral is a cobalt blue enamelled snake with cabochon gem eyes (too small to test but presumed to be small Rubies).
The piece is suspended from a diamond set bail and has an additional faceted 9ct gold jump ring attached too. To the reverse, a rock crystal fronted locket (removable with a blade or similar).
There is slight movement in the applied floral decoration but is secure nonetheless. The enamel is in very good condition with just one small fracture to the right hand side but no loss of enamel. All stones are secure in their settings and overall the piece is in wonderful antique condition.
Measuring 28.6mm drop – including the diamond set bail – 17mm width.
Weight – 5.55g
Typically unmarked – XRF tested to ensure purity as 15ct.
