This brooch was made around 1900 and the Bohemian Garnets are set in gilt metal.
The central Garnet measures 1.8cm and is surrounded by 3 rows of round Rose cut Garnets.
The central stone when inspected with light and a loupe has lots of natural inclusions and a surface reaching flaw, these are only visible upon close inspection and are if nothing else, evidence of the stone being genuine and natural.
To the reverse of the brooch there is pin and C shaped fastening, there is also an O ring which gives potential for a jump ring or bail to be added so it can be worn as a pendant too.
Scale wise the brooch measures 3.2cm drop and 2.5cm wide.
